Approximately 1 kg to 1.2 kg of cement is required for a block measuring 20 × 40 × 20 cm. The exact amount may vary depending on factors such as the mix design and raw material quality, but this range is the industry standard.
With a 50 kg bag, assuming 1 kg to 1.2 kg of cement is used per block, you can make approximately 42 blocks measuring 20 × 40 × 20 cm. Actual yield may vary depending on raw material quality, block dimensions, and production conditions.
Based on standard mixing ratios and material properties, you will need approximately 0.8 L (800 mL) of water for a 20 × 40 × 20 cm block.
To make a standard 20 × 40 × 20 cm block, approximately 18.8 kg of aggregate (sand, crushed stone, etc.) and 1.2 kg of cement are required. After hardening, the block weighs approximately 20 kg. These ratios change when lightweight materials such as pumice or fly ash are used.
The three main components are:
- Cement
- Water
- Sand (or similar fine aggregate)
Optional additives for enhanced properties may include fly ash, pumice, silica fume, ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS), accelerators, retarders, and other additives.
Pumice stone requires a change in the formula:
Increase the cement content to 12% of the total mixture.
Add approximately 1 liter of extra water for each block.
Sometimes add fine sand to improve adhesion and workability.
A standard 20 × 40 × 20 cm block made with normal materials weighs approximately 20 kg. If fly ash or pumice is used, the weight can drop to 12–15 kg (and can drop to as low as 8 kg when high-volume lightweight aggregates are used).
For hollow (asmolene) and solid blocks, use aggregates mixed with stone dust in the 0–7 mm range. To ensure proper compaction and strength, the maximum particle size should not exceed 7 mm.
